In the hospitality industry—restaurants, bars, and hotels—indoor air quality (IAQ) directly influences guest satisfaction, staff well-being, and compliance with evolving regulations. The Belgian Law of 6th November 2022, which enforces stricter air quality standards in public indoor spaces, underscores the growing recognition of IAQ as a critical factor in hospitality. Poor air quality impacts:

• Guest Comfort and Loyalty: Guests expect not just clean rooms and spaces but also fresh and safe air. Poor air quality can lead to discomfort, respiratory irritation and easier propagation of viruses. 

• Employee Health and Productivity: Hospitality staff spend extended hours indoors. Poor IAQ can result in fatigue, absenteeism, and lower productivity, undermining operational efficiency. 

• Compliance with Legal Standards: The Belgian Law of 6th November 2022 mandates regular monitoring and reporting of air quality parameters, including CO2 levels in public spaces like restaurants, bars, and hotel lobbies.  
• Energy Efficiency and Operational Costs: Inefficient HVAC systems not only compromise air quality but also increase energy costs, creating unnecessary financial strain.
